How often to wash Sheets, Duvets, Comforter, and Pillows

We sleep in our beds for about a third of our lives. Just as it is important to keep your clothes clean. Cleaning your sheets, your pillows, even your mattress will help them feel fresh and more pleasant to use and will make them more hygienic.

How often to wash Sheets?

There is no strict rule on how often you need to wash sheets, but it is a good idea to do it at least once a week.

You can usually only wash them in cold or lukewarm water, but if you are trying to disinfect your sheets, you may have a child or pet who has had an accident in bed or if you have allergies to dust mites, you should wash your sheets in hot water, at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit. If you want to give your sheets a whitening boost, we recommend using an oxygen bleach or a safe color bleach. If you use a duvet problem on your duvet, you can wash it like you would your sheets.

If you use a counter top sheet, you can probably wash your comforter every month. If you don’t use a top sheet, you should wash it more often, as often as you would with your sheets.

How often to wash Duvet?

Duvets should normally be washed 2-3 times a year. If your duvet is made of linen or cotton, you can wash it in warm or cold water, just like you would with your regular sheets. But if the duvet cover is made of different fabrics, you should definitely follow the care instructions.

How often to wash Comforter?

When you wash the comforter, just like when you wash the pillows, you need to make sure you dry it well, as if you don’t, mold and mildew could grow on the comforter and smell bad. It is always a good idea to throw a tennis ball when a comforter is drying and that will help soften the comforter. Even if you haven’t washed the comforter, if you are just trying to fluff it up, you can do it every two months, it will only bring more to the comforter, make you feel better and look better.

How often should you wash your Pillows?

You should wash your pillow about once or twice a year. The exception to this is if you have an allergy to dust mites. If you are allergic to dust mites, you will want to wash your pillow more often to kill those little dust mites. You want to do that in hot water. If you are allergic to dust mites, or are just concerned with keeping pillows clean, we strongly recommend that you use a pillow.
A pillowcase looks like a pillowcase, but it has a zipper and is made of some kind of plastic fabric that dust mites can’t get through. Your dust mite cover, you should wash it can be like twice a year or more frequently. Just follow your allergist’s instructions.

How often to wash Mattress?

The mattress lining is made of the same fabric. It goes right under the fitted sheet. This is a good idea if you are concerned about bed bugs or if you have had a bed bug infestation if you are allergic to dust mites. It is also a very good way to protect your expensive mattress.

If you don’t have a dust mite allergy, you can vacuum it once or twice a year and maybe wash it every two years. If you are allergic to dust mites, you should wash it a few times a year.

Below you will see the mattress, obviously, and you can usually vacuum it a few times a year. If you are using a cover, you should keep your mattress fairly clean. That’s another good reason to use an encapsulation.

Follow these general guidelines and you will probably get a better night’s sleep.
